Considering its roots, the Ambazonia Governing Council is an embodiment of the Ambazonia national freedom and independence movement.
It is both the vanguard of the Ambazonia freedom from annexation by the Republic of Cameroun and the foundation builder of a ready and stable Ambazonia state from the day Ambazonia becomes sovereign.
To achieve the independence, sovereignty and international recognition of Ambazonia as a country
Today, the Ambazonia Governing Council has broadened itself to include persons with no affiliation to any specific political ideology or philosophy or movement insofar as they profess the independence and sovereignty of Ambazonia, and dedicate themselves to the tasks of the freedom of the people of Ambazonia from illegal occupation and rule by Cameroon.
The Ambazonia Governing Council is a democratic, inclusive, non-discriminatory and non-sexist liberation and administration council with an extensive grassroots network of committees and local councils fulfilling different functions such as provision of humanitarian services, construction of infrastructure, education, healthcare, and public safety in the Ambazonia territory (the homeland).
In its leadership role, the Governing Council of Ambazonia represents the independence and sovereignty aspiration of the Ambazonian people internationally, including in organizations such as the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO). has represented the Ambazonian people before different organs of the United Nations, presented the case of Ambazonia to multiple international organizations, including the European Union and maintains working relations with multiple nations, especially in Africa, Europe and North America, and in many other fora. In addition to its broad liberation and nation-building task, the Governing Council of Ambazonia engages in numerous human rights and community activities to improve the lives of the Ambazonian people in their communities and throughout the world. In this regard, the AGovC is not only a national liberation council striving to achieve the national freedom aspirations of the Ambazonian people; it is also a builder of the Ambazonia state through its strategic independence framework.
The structure and functioning of the Ambazonia Governing Council is guided by its Charter, which establishes the different organs and structural levels of the liberation movement and its Ambazonia Governing Council, and specifies operational mechanisms between and among them. The liberation movement within and from which it functions is made up of local units and leaders across villages, towns, cities and states in Ambazonia, and in multiple countries (called missions) in the diaspora. The Ambazonia Governing Council itself, as a central leading entity of this movement consist of a National Council that functions as a parliament or council of representatives; a Council of Missions that focuses on resource mobilization with a Committee of Rules and Order that exercises judiciary powers; and seven executive offices and departments.
