War Crimes in Ambazonia: Trends & Insights (2016-2024).

The Secretary for Human Rights and Humanitarian Services (HHS) of the Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC) has published detailed reports documenting 334 War Crimes incidents perpetrated by Cameroun Occupation Forces in Ambazonia between 2016 and 2024.

This year 2024 has already recorded the highest number of incidents (66), reflecting Cameroun’s desperation after failing to defeat Ambazonia Defense Forces and allied forces. This surge in violence, including unchecked excesses, has been met with the deafening silence of the International Community, whose attention has shifted to the Russio-Ukraine and Israeli-Palestinian wars. Notably, 2021 also recorded a high number of incidents (60), highlighting a pattern of escalation during key periods of the conflict.

Monthly variations in War Crimes incidents correlate with significant events in Ambazonia’s resistance. All October from 2016 (35 incidents) is marked by attacks coinciding with Ambazonia’s Independence Day celebrations. September (35) reflects increased enforcement of noncompliance with Cameroun’s academic calendar, while May (34) aligns with Ambazonia’s defiance of Cameroun’s National Day. Conversely, August (21) and March (21) show lower activity, likely due to strategic pauses or seasonal limitations. These patterns underscore Cameroun’s persistent campaign of violence in response to Ambazonia’s unwavering resistance.
