A War Crime Under International Law

The deliberate targeting, abduction, and execution of civilians in an armed conflict constitutes a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. Cameroon’s actions violate Article 3, which strictly prohibits violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, against persons not taking active part in hostilities. Abduction of Mallam Yusufa falls squarely within these violations, qualifying as a grave breach of International Humanitarian Law.

Violation Of Human Rights Obligations

These include the right to life, the right to security, and the protection against arbitrary arrest and detention. By denying Mallam Yusufa due process and ultimately ending his life without trial or evidence, the occupation forces have committed a gross human rights violation.
