The victims included women and other unarmed individuals who posed no threat to the occupying forces. This act of targeted violence and extrajudicial killings further exemplifies the systematic oppression and indiscriminate use of force against the civilian population of Ambazonia. The attack not only resulted in the tragic loss of human life but also instilled widespread fear and insecurity among the local community.

These actions align with a broader pattern of human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, and state-sanctioned killings perpetrated by the occupation forces, leaving families devastated and communities in mourning.

The atrocities committed in Bambui on this day constitute War Crimes under international humanitarian law. The Geneva Conventions of 1949, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, prohibit the targeting of civilians, acts of torture, and extrajudicial killings in times of armed conflict. Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions strictly forbids violence against persons taking no active part in hostilities, including murder, cruel treatment, and torture.

Furthermore, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), under Article 8, classifies such acts as war crimes, especially the willful killing and inhumane treatment of civilians. Additionally, the forcible removal of individuals from their homes and subsequent execution without trial violates Article 7 of the Rome Statute, which defines crimes against humanity as systematic and widespread attacks against a civilian population.

These actions also contravene Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which states that no one shall be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment. The Cameroon Occupation Forces’ continued disregard for international law calls for urgent global intervention. The perpetrators must be held accountable, and the affected families deserve justice, reparations, and immediate humanitarian support. The international community must take concrete action to investigate these war crimes, impose sanctions on those responsible, and work toward ending impunity for such heinous acts against the people of Ambazonia.
