Bova Massacre
Bova Massacre, The ongoing war in Ambazonia continues to escalate, 10 October 2024, with yet another tragic incident revealing the grave human rights violations committed by Cameroon’s occupation forces. In the latest atrocity, Cameroonian occupation forces forcibly removed more than 7 civilians from their homes in Bova, Bova Munyenge, in Fako Buea. After subjecting these innocent civilians to violent intimidation, the Cameroon occupation forces executed them in cold blood, leaving a trail of death and destruction.
This follows a pattern of systemic abuses, marked by the infamous military crackdown often referred to as Mbomboko, where the Cameroonian government has consistently suppressed the Ambazonian people’s right to self-determination through brutal means.
A Clear Violation of Human Rights
The killings in Bova amount to war crimes, as the deliberate targeting of unarmed civilians violates international humanitarian law. The Geneva Conventions clearly forbid the execution of non-combatants, especially when civilians are forced from their homes under the threat of violence. This massacre is just one of many acts in the long-standing campaign of terror perpetrated by Cameroon occupation forces against the English-speaking Ambazonia, who have endured decades of marginalization and cultural erasure. The tragic fate of these victims underscores the systemic violence used by the regime to silence dissent and crush the Ambazonian independence movement.
Condemning the Genocide in Ambazonia
What is occurring in Ambazonia, mostly Bova Massacre goes beyond individual acts of brutality; it constitutes genocide. The deliberate killing of Ambazonian civilians, the destruction of their villages, and the widespread use of state-sponsored violence point to an attempt to eradicate the identity and existence of the Ambazonian people. International bodies, human rights organizations, and the global community must condemn this heinous genocide in the strongest terms. Silence is complicity, and without urgent intervention, these atrocities will continue unchecked.
Justice for the Ambazonian People
The international community must hold the Cameroon government accountable for its war crimes in Bova Massacre and across Ambazonia. There can be no lasting peace in Ambazonia without justice for the victims of these horrific acts. The world must act now to prevent further bloodshed and ensure the protection of innocent civilians.
