AGovC’s.
The Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC) vehemently condemns the unfounded and irresponsible allegations made by Volker Turk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. In a recent interview with the BBC, Mr. Turk accused Ambazonian fighters of blocking humanitarian aid workers from delivering critical assistance to war victims. However, these claims are not only baseless but also a gross misrepresentation of the truth.
AGovC’s Commitment to Humanitarian Access
Since 2018, the AGovC has consistently prioritized the safety and access of humanitarian missions within the Northern and Southern regions of Ambazonia. Reputable organizations, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), have sought and received clearance from the AGovC for their missions. Out of 32 requests for humanitarian access, the AGovC granted 30, demonstrating cooperation with international organizations.
Recent Instances of Cooperation
As recently as July 31 to August 1, 2024, the AGovC granted UNOCHA and UNHCR access to Kumba, allowing vehicles transporting staff members. This exemplifies the AGovC’s commitment to facilitating humanitarian efforts within Ambazonia.
Shift of Focus
Mr. Turk’s allegations divert attention from documented actions by the Cameroonian government, which has hindered humanitarian efforts. The AGovC remains steadfast in prioritizing civilian well-being and cooperation with international organizations.
