May 2, 2020, Shudong, Mezam State, Northern Ambazonia, Cameroon Occupation Forces carried out another brutal and inhumane attack on innocent and unarmed civilians, leaving the local community in shock, despair, and mourning.
Eyewitnesses recounted how the soldiers forcefully invaded the area, arresting civilians at random with no justification or explanation. The victims, who had committed no crime, were abducted from their homes, workplaces, and even the streets, their hands bound as they were dragged away to unknown locations.
One of the individuals targeted was Mr. Mbu Stanley, a respected member of the community, who, like the others, became a victim of the violent and oppressive actions of the occupation forces.
Reports indicate that the abducted individuals were subjected to severe acts of torture, including beatings, forced confessions, and other cruel and degrading treatment. The soldiers showed no mercy, using inhumane tactics to inflict as much suffering as possible before ultimately executing their captives.
The bodies of those killed were later disposed of in a dehumanizing manner, adding another layer of trauma and pain for their grieving families. The families of the victims, left without answers, were forced to search for their loved ones, only to find their lifeless bodies riddled with evidence of extreme physical abuse. The community, once filled with hope and resilience, was now gripped by fear, sorrow, and uncertainty, as residents feared they could be the next victims of unprovoked aggression and unlawful killings.

The attack in Shudong highlights the systematic persecution and terror campaign that the Cameroon Occupation Forces have inflicted upon the people of Ambazonia. These horrific acts of violence violate every principle of human rights and International Law, serving as a reminder of the urgent need for justice and accountability.
The abduction, torture, and extrajudicial killing of unarmed civilians are serious violations of International Humanitarian Law and constitute War Crimes under the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions prohibits the murder, torture, and cruel treatment of civilians and persons not actively engaged in hostilities.
Article 8(2)(c)(i) of the Rome Statute explicitly criminalizes such actions as War Crimes in non-International armed conflicts. Additionally, the United Nations Convention Against Torture (UNCAT) strictly prohibits the use of torture and inhumane treatment under any circumstances. The attack in Shudong, Mezam State, is an undeniable war crime, demanding international condemnation, intervention, and justice for the victims.
