Eyewitnesses recount horrific scenes of soldiers setting homes on fire, executing entire families, and mercilessly beating those who attempted to flee. The attack left at least 10 people dead, including young children, who stood no chance against the barbaric assault. Survivors describe the haunting cries of victims as they were dragged away, never to be seen again, while the charred remains of homes stood as grim reminders of the ruthlessness of the occupation forces.

The Cameroon military’s deliberate targeting of civilians, particularly children, demonstrates a systematic and coordinated effort to wipe out communities in Ambazonia through terror and destruction. By killing innocent, unarmed individuals, the occupation forces have not only violated fundamental human rights but have also committed a crime of extreme moral depravity. The massacre in Ngarbuh, like many others before it, serves as evidence of the brutal and oppressive regime under which the people of Ambazonia continue to suffer.

The abduction, torture, and execution of innocent civilians, including children, in Ngarbuh, Bamenda, constitute grave violations of international law and War Crimes. These acts specifically violate:

  • Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions (1949): Prohibits the killing, torture, and inhumane treatment of civilians during armed conflict.
  • The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (1998): Defines widespread and systematic killings of civilians as crimes against humanity (Article 7) and war crimes (Article 8).
  • The Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989): Protects children from violence, conflict, and unlawful killing.
  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948): Affirms the right to life, liberty, and security of all individuals.

By committing mass killings, systematic torture, and violent abductions, the Cameroon Occupation Forces have violated multiple international laws and engaged in acts that amount to war crimes. The Ngarbuh massacre must not go unpunished, and the international community must take urgent action to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes against humanity.
