Among the victims were women and other defenseless individuals who had no means of escape or resistance. The attackers moved through the community like a storm of destruction, instilling terror as they unleashed violence upon the local population.

Over 11 individuals fell victim to this gruesome assault, their bodies left as chilling evidence of the ruthless aggression inflicted by the occupying forces. The village, once a place of safety and livelihood, was turned into a battlefield soaked in innocent blood.

Eyewitnesses described how victims were tortured mercilessly, enduring unimaginable suffering before they were executed in cold blood. Some were severely beaten, subjected to degrading treatment, and made to suffer physical and psychological torment before they were mercilessly gunned down or slain. The sheer brutality of the attack left families shattered, with many now mourning the loss of their loved ones and struggling to come to terms with the horrors they witnessed.

In the aftermath, the community of Bangem was left in ruins—its people traumatized, its homes filled with grief, and its future uncertain. Survivors now live in constant fear, knowing that they could be the next targets of the oppressive military campaign waged against unarmed civilians.

The Cameroon Occupation Forces have continually demonstrated a blatant disregard for human rights and international law, treating innocent civilians as mere casualties in their campaign of terror.

The abduction, torture, and execution of unarmed civilians, including women, violate multiple provisions of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and constitute War Crimes under the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions explicitly prohibits the murder, torture, and cruel treatment of civilians and persons not actively engaged in hostilities.

Furthermore, Article 8(2)(c)(i) of the Rome Statute classifies these acts as War Crimes in non-international armed conflicts. The massacre in Bangem is a clear violation of international law, demanding immediate intervention, accountability, and justice for the victims.
